Jabuticaba fruit has a round shape and will turn from bright green when immature to dark purple when fully ripe giving it an appearance similar to that of a concord grape. Measuring on average one inch in diameter the tough skin of the Jabuticaba offers a tannic and resinous flavor. Within the skin is a pulpy, translucent white to rosy pink flesh surrounding one to five round and flat, light brown seeds. The flavor of the Jabuticaba flesh has been likened to that of muscadine grapes, which are known for their fruity and flowery qualities. It is a cauliflorous tree meaning that the flowers and fruits grow directly from the trunks and large branches of the tree rather than from stems. They may be found in small clusters or individually up and down the trunk of the Jabuticaba tree.

Jackfruit is a species of tree in the fig, mulberry, and breadfruit family. The jackfruit plant originated in southwest India, where it grows abundantly. And then, it spread to other parts of India, southeast Asia, the East Indies, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It also grows in Africa and is relatively popular in Brazil and Suriname as well. Jackfruit trees typically grow in tropical and near-tropical conditions, but jackfruits can also be produced in Florida, Hawaii, and Australia.

Jalapeno pepper pods have a slightly curved, conical shape and come to a blunt end at their tip. A petite pepper on average they measure two to three inches in length and one inch in width. Their smooth, bright to dark green skin will ripen to a vivid red when the peppers are fully mature. More mature peppers will also exhibit characteristic cracks near their stem end. Jujubes can be found either oval or round and vary in size from a large grape to a golf ball. They can resemble a yellowish crab apple covered with a firm brown skin. Depending on the variety, coloring can range from a speckled yellow-green to entirely brown. In the center is a hard pointed inedible seed, surrounded by a uniquely textured pith that is both crisp and airy. Its flavor can range from sweet and sour to caramel apple, depending on variety and ripeness.
