LAMB – KUZU
There are several species of Sheep and they can range in size. Most of them are white but you will also find those that have black or brown on them. Some Sheep have horns that tend to grown in spirals but many of them don’t. Some of them can grow to be about 350 pounds but most species are about 100 pounds. They are often used for fleece. The Sheep fleece is believed to be the most common type of fiber used from animals. They are also raised to offer milk. Sheep tend to be grazers and they will consume grass, shrubs, and plants. The young are vulnerable from predators which is why those that have flocks often have Sheep dogs that stay with them around the clock.
LEMMING – YABAN SIÇANI
Lemmings measure around 13 – 18 centimetres (5 – 7 inches) in length and weigh around 23 – 34 grams (0.05 – 0.07 pounds). Lemmings are quite rounded in shape with brown and black long, soft fur. Lemmings have a very short tail, a stubby, hairy snout, short legs and small ears. They have a flattened claw on their first digit of their front feet which helps them to dig in the snow.
LEMUR – LEMUR
Lemurs only live in one place in the world, Madagascar and the nearby Comoro Islands, which are off the coast of Mozambique in Africa. They occupy many different habitats: dry deciduous forests, spiny forests, rain forests, wetlands and mountains. Lemurs belong to a group called prosimian primates, defined as all primates that are neither monkeys nor apes.
The Leopard is a medium-sized wildcat that is natively found in a variety of different habitats across sub-Saharan Africa and southern Asia. A member of the “Big Cat” family, the Leopard is an agile and opportunistic hunter that has been able to exploit habitats unused by other large felines as it spends a great deal of its time high in the tree branches. LIGER – LİGER
The liger is a hybrid offspring of a male lion (Panthera leo) and a female tiger (Panthera tigris). The liger has parents in the same genus but of different species. The liger is distinct from the similar hybrid tigon, and is the largest of all known extant felines.
he Lion (Panthera leo) is a mammal of the family Felidae and is one of four ‘big cats’ in the genus Panthera. The lion is the second largest cat, after the tiger. Lions are unique in that they are the only cats to live in groups. The male lion is also the only cat to have a mane, giving it a regal appearance that has earned him the title of ‘king of the beasts’. The mane of the male lion is one of the most distinctive characteristics of the species. It makes the lion appear larger, providing an excellent intimidation display. DEVAMI
LIZARD – KERTENKELE
Lizards are by far the most diverse group of modern reptiles in body shape and size. They range from 2 cm (0.8 inch) snout to vent in geckos (family Gekkonidae) to 3 metres (10 feet) in total length in monitor lizards (family Varanidae). The weight of adult lizards ranges from less than 0.5 gram (0.02 ounce) to more than 150 kg (330 pounds).
LLAMA – LAMA
The height of a full-grown, full-size llama is between 5.5 feet (1.6 metres) to 6 feet (1.8 metres) tall at the top of the head. Llamas can weigh approximately between 280 pounds (127 kilograms) and 450 pounds (204 kilograms). At birth, a baby llama (called a cria) can weigh between 20 pounds (9 kilograms) to 30 pounds (14 kilograms). Llama ears are rather long and slightly curved inward, characteristically known as banana shaped.
LOBSTER – ISTAKOZ
The lobster is a large crustacean and like the crab is similar to shrimp and prawns. The lobster is one of the largest types of crustacean with some lobster species known to get to weigh over 20 kg. Lobsters live on rocky, sandy, or muddy bottoms close to the shoreline to beyond the edge of the continental shelf as the lobster prefers the shallower ocean water. The lobster is generally found to live by itself, where the lobster hides in crevices and in burrows under rocks.
LYNX – VAŞAK
Although the lynx is a ground mammal, lynx are often known to climb trees or swim in order to catch their prey. Lynx hunt small mammals, birds and fish but prefer to hunt larger mammals like reindeer, deer and elk if the lynx can find and catch them. The lynx has large paws which help the lynx to balance and also give the lynx more power when pursuing potential meals. The lynx also has extremely acute hearing which allows the lynx to hear oncoming prey and predators over long distances, and the lynx also has a strong jaw and sharp teeth which the lynx uses to bite down on its prey.
